Reports To: Yard Supervisor / Operations Manager
Department: Recycling Operations
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Position Summary:
The Loader Operator is responsible for operating heavy equipment, such as front-end loaders or skid steers, to move, load, and organize recyclable materials in a safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible manner. This position plays a key role in supporting daily operations and maintaining workflow at the recycling facility.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate front-end loader or similar equipment to load materials into hoppers, containers, or trucks
Move, stack, or distribute recyclables around the facility as needed
Ensure materials are placed in the proper storage or processing areas
Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance of loader equipment
Follow safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times
Assist with clearing debris and keeping the yard/facility organized
Report equipment malfunctions, hazards, or incidents to the supervisor
Work in coordination with sorters, drivers, and other crew members to maintain productivity
Complete daily logs or reports as required
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Minimum 1 year of experience operating heavy equipment (front-end loader, skid steer, etc.)
Certification or license to operate heavy equipment (if required by state or facility)
Knowledge of safety standards in industrial or recycling environments
Physical ability to work outdoors in all weather and lift up to 50 lbs.
Good communication and teamwork skills
Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
Work Schedule:
Full-time; flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and overtime as needed
